So glad Viola is breathing on her own and that her surgery was a success. Still praying for a speedy recovery. They are young and resilient little troopers. Sean is kicking butt and taking names, already in progressive care and out of ICU woot woot!
Viola has Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) located very high on the septum (heart wall), close to the Aortic Valve. The flow across the VSD can injure the leaflets of the valve causing it to leak (A.K.A. Aortic Regurgitation).
Viola had surgery to repair the VSD on Oct 14, 2009 at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Visit their website: http://montekids.org/
